Day 6: Versaillles!

Day 6 - we're off and running.  After prompting from the stranger I had dinner with last night, this morning I did NOT get up at 6am.  I slept in until nearly 10am.  It was heaven in Paris!  I woke up, looked over my plans and remembered to WEAR TENNIS SHOES.  Today I walked a bazillion miles and took 556 pictures.  I did the math like 5 times cuz I couldn't believe it!  It was a great day and tomorrow is my last full day in Paris...we feel like old friends now.  I will miss her!  And I will definitely be visiting again - she's great!

So I've been "schooled" that Paris is not known for great coffee - so I go to the bakery for my croissant and save a bundle with M's coffee - it's still only about half full - what's wrong with Parisians??  Can't they handle a grande coffee?

RER trains...waiting for my ride

His pants are awesome.

Train to Versailles - much faster than I expected!  Had to scurry to collect myself!

Woohoo!  How awesome is the pipe guy?

This guy wouldn't get out of my picture!  Then I realized he was with the photographer!  LOL!

My walk from train station to Versailles!
Love that it feels so old.  And it IS -- the oldest neighborhood in Versailles!

Was walking left along that far wall of windows toward Versailles Palace when I saw this cute area and decided to eat!

This kid was grumpy!  He ran right up to me and when I said "bonjour" he shook his head "no." and ran away.

So funny - he had his stink face on!
So I had a restaurant in mind and asked a shopkeeper how to get there - she instead suggested this place to me and the other woman, a jewelry maker, leaving her shop together.  We walked down the street and right into this restaurant where this woman introduced me to the owner and let him know what I'd like to eat.  It was so nice of her!  And lunch really was yummy!
I stopped for a Lebanese lunch with a recommendation from a shop keeper.

I had the Assiette variee and it was great!

Wanna know how long I waved my hands around the faucet trying to figure out how to turn it on?

Simple - but I loved the wall paint in the bathroom!

Gorgeous, no?

Love.

I was THERE...I took this picture and it still doesn't look real!

Here I am!  Now...which room is mine?  There's air conditioning, right?

Hey look!  It's pants guy from the train!

Those girls in the crazy shoes?  I saw them crying and rubbing their feet about 6pm near the groves.

These are not your average NYC apartments...the are Grands Appartements!

I walked by this rooming think, "What...whuh??"

Pretty classy!

Wowzerss. And I'm laughing because "they paved paradise and put up a parking lot" just came to mind...that green area in the middle is now a cobble-stoned parking lot.

Don't tell - but really, I couldn't wait to get OUTSIDE into those gardens.

It is so amazing that it doesn't seem real.

That's dope.

The windows with their views served as more art.

The youngest visitor at Versailles today...2 months old.  Precious.

Seriously.  Seriously??

They were so brilliant - i wondered if they were restoring or cleaning them.

Come ON!  That's friggin AMAZING.

And it's not just paint - it's little sculptures and moldings...amazing the volume of detail.

Looking from the blue clock out on the square (front)

Boy those gardeners have a lot of work!

Back side -- up there is the hall of mirrors!  Tres chic!

Boggles the mind...how HUGE it all is!

Voila!  I am going aaaaalll the way down there and turning right!

It's me!

Nothing says romance like a water-barfing girl on a fountain.

Superduper gorgeous.

Ok, this place has a LOT of flowers.

A little further...then turn right.

Whoa.  That was a hike.

You can rent bikes on this property - something I'd do in the future!

Talk about a nice long doggy walk!

We made it....FINALLY!

Apparently I have a thing for doors.

So romantic.

This place was a fairytale.  Very girly.

I coordinate each day's outfits with the landscape!

Yes it goes on forever!

Ok, I officially have to go to sleep - sorry not so much stories - I'll go back and repost these when I have time!  This is the tip of the iceberg for pics today, obviously, but I'll post part two in the future.  XOXO Victoria
